The Effinays - Chevy Music Showcase Artist of the Week
What a cool deal last weeks Chevy Music Showcase was! Watching Hanna Barbarians interview Eleven Hundred Springs at Lola's Saloon was pretty righteous. Not to mention that lead singer Matt Hillyer's song I'm an S.O.B. when Im S-O-B-E-R would give Buck Owens or Roger Miller a run for their money.
This Wednesday and Thursday night during Jimmy Kimmel Live, which is broadcast on WFAA Channel 8 at 11pm, Chevy introduces North Texas to Dallas' rockers The Effinays.
Fermenting a stew of Reggae, Roots and Rock, the Effinays bring a helluva live set to the stage. “Funky” is the watchword for this outfit, swinging with sharply cut bass lines and grooves that make you want to get off your feet and dance.
The exuberant boost of the horns is undeniable, calling out in response to frontman “Big Spook” Martinez. Running the show, pointing attention to his outlandishly tight band, Martinez helms the bouncing ship with resplendent alacrity.
2012’s self-titled debut shows the outfit’s developing heavy sound undercut by chill out breakdowns. Whether fulfilling a rock steady opening or jamming out a jazz riff, The Effinays fold enormous soul into their deft grooves.
Be sure and tune in tonight, another big night for North Texas music!
